$10 billion is certainly going to turn up the volume on the vaccine debate. Ironically, this Lancet series appears amidst growing criticism of medical journals that publish articles biased by financial conflicts of interest (e.g., Financial Transparency Skin-Deep at Medical Journals – Reuters; Flacking for Big Pharma – The American Scholar). Science is supposed to be unprejudiced, reaching a consensus of the truth based on an unbiased study of the data. There are plenty of doctors and scientists out there concerned about vaccine adverse reactions. But the Lancet has no qualms about selling its soul to the highest bidder, in this case an entire issue of Health Affairs to a billionaire with a needle fetish.
